The seat belt buckle, when fastened, should work with a clearly audible click.
Belt release - press the red button in the buckle and, guiding the belt slightly, feed it into the automatic retractor.
Fasten the seat belt without twisting and pull it over the hips and shoulder. At the same time, do not put it on hard or fragile items in the pockets of your clothes. The seat belt adjusts to every movement of the body.
The belt should fit as close to the body as possible; therefore, before buckling up, remove clothing made of particularly thick and bulky material, and also do not recline the seat back too far.
The belt must always fit as close to the body as possible (the seatback should be slightly tilted) the following reasons. In frontal collisions, the lap belt can slip off the hips and injure the lower abdomen. The holding action of the belts is delayed due to the increased backlash. Pregnant women should also wear a seat belt at all times and make sure that the lap strap rests below the hips and not on the lower abdomen.
Individual adjustment of the seat belt is carried out by changing the height of its upper anchorage.
Only one person can be fastened with one seat belt.
The seat belt must not be placed around the neck, pinched or rubbed against sharp edges.
It is not allowed to put babies and young children on their knees while driving.
For children under 12, use appropriate safety systems.
The safety of infants up to 9 months old can be ensured by using special baby cradles installed against the vehicle in the front or rear seats and fastened with standard seat belts.
For children aged nine months to three years and three to six years old, you can use BMW's VARIO forward-facing system using the standard seat belt.
You can also use the seat for children aged two to twelve years, consisting of three parts - a basket for the seat, backrest and catching device.
This seat is fastened in the direction of travel using the standard seat belt.
When using child restraint systems, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. The required attachment points are located as standard in the rear compartment behind the front seats.
It is forbidden to make any structural changes to the seat belt system or child restraint systems.
If the seat belt system, including the retractable retractor (is under development), as well as the child restraint system* were damaged or critically loaded due to an accident, they must be replaced with new ones, and the fastenings of the belts must be checked. Have repairs and checks carried out by BMW service specialists.
With the inertial belt tensioner engaged, there is a gap of 20 mm between the lock and the casing.
The seat belt is blocked when:
- sharp stretching of the belt;
- sudden braking or acceleration;
- moving along a curve;
- strong tilt of the vehicle.
