Manual transmission (BMW 5 Series E34)
Neutral position of the gear shift lever (on the diagram it is shown as a dot) is located on the line of engagement of 3 and 4 gears, when switching from any gear to "neutral" the lever, under the action of the springs, itself tends to return to the named line,
All gears have synchronizers.
When shifting from 5th to 4th gear, the engine speed increases sharply, which under certain circumstances can lead to engine damage, so it is recommended to reduce speed before shifting.
The gear can be engaged only after the car has come to a complete stop. When pressing the lever to the left, it is necessary to apply some force.
The lights come on when reverse gear is engaged and the ignition key is in position "2" (ignition on).

Reversing lights
The lights come on when reverse gear is engaged and the ignition key is in position "2" (ignition on).
Caution: When stopping on an incline, do not hold the vehicle with a slipping clutch. Use the parking brake for this. A slipping clutch causes intensive wear.
