Gearbox with manual shifting (RKPP)
Gearbox with manual shifting (RKPP) It is installed in two versions, and each version has its own design features, but their control is identical. The position of the gear change lever is shown in fig. 1.53.
In the neutral position, the gearshift lever is automatically set to the 3rd and 4th gear engagement line, shown by a dot in the figure. When shifting from any gear to «neutral», the lever tends to return to the given point under the action of the springs.
All forward gears are synchronized for easy and quiet gear changes. To engage 5th/6th gear or reverse gear, be sure to push the lever to the right or left, respectively, to prevent the engagement of 3rd or 4th gear.
Engage reverse gear only when the vehicle is stationary, pressing the lever to the left with some force, while the reverse lights automatically light up if the ignition key is in the position «2».
When the engine is running, shift gears only with the clutch pedal fully depressed to avoid damage to the gear teeth of the manual transmission and the sound of grinding. When stopping on a hill, do not hold the car with a slipping clutch. The parking brake must be used for this purpose. Clutch slippage leads to its intensive wear.
Attention! While driving, do not keep your hand on the gear lever, because. hand pressure is transferred to the shift forks and premature wear occurs.
