Parking and dipped beam
Parking lighting
Low beam / Xenon headlights
If the ignition is turned off when the low beam is on, the parking lights will remain on.
Xenon headlights
Xenon headlights illuminate the road in front of the vehicle and its sides much better and more evenly than conventional halogen headlights.
In xenon headlights, the light is created not by a filament, but by a light arc. The mixture of inert gases with metal vapors in a quartz flask glows under the influence of high voltage. A lower voltage is then applied to the emerging light arc. When the light is turned on, a certain inertia is noticeable. Maximum brightness is reached after approximately 15 seconds.
Xenon headlights improve visibility in bad weather and difficult traffic situations, such as driving at night in the rain on a reconstructed road without markings.
Xenon headlights contribute significantly to road safety, as they make it easier for the driver to see, for example, pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists moving on the right side of the carriageway.
Light on warning
When you turn the key to position 0, a buzzer will sound for a few seconds to remind you that the lights have not been turned off.
For vehicles with an alphanumeric Check Control display: a reminder is shown on the display.
Light for movement during the day
If desired, the light switch can be left in the second fixed position. In this case, when the ignition is turned off, the exterior lighting will also go out.
In some modifications, daytime running lights automatically turn on when the ignition key is turned to position 2, if the light switch is in position 0.
Instrument lighting
The brightness of the backlight is adjusted by rotating the knurled wheel.
Headlight range adjustment
The direction of the low beam can be adjusted according to the load of the car, which avoids the blinding effect of the headlights on oncoming drivers.
Data in brackets refer to driving with a trailer.
- 0 (1) = 1-2 people without luggage
- 1 (1) = 5 people without luggage
- 1 (2) = 5 people with luggage
- 2 (2) = 1 person, car trunk is fully loaded
Vehicles with ride height control: position 0, regardless of load.
Exception: 1 person, full trunk, driving with a trailer - position 1.
Observe the permissible axle load for the rear axle of the vehicle.
