Removal and installation the front seat (BMW 7 Series E32)

Removal

Move the seat to the highest position by adjusting its height. Move the seat forward as far as it will go.



Loosen the seat belt mounting bolt.



Release the fastening (1) to the rear and pull it in. Pull the cable in the sheath (2) forward to adjust the height of the seat belt.



Unscrew the inner shields upwards (1), for which release the clamp tongues, lift them up in the middle (2) and pull them back (3).





Release the plug (1) and pull it out (2).



Remove the rear bolts.

Move the seat all the way back.

Electric seat: release cover (A) and fold it forward, release plug (B) (1) and pull it off (2).



Remove the front bolts.

Remove the front seat.

Caution: If the seat is moved, removed, or left removed for a long time, secure the seat belt tensioner.

Installation

Place the seat and level it.

Caution: The floor mat should not be placed in areas where the seat will be secured with bolts or between the seat runners and the bottom, otherwise extraneous noise may occur later.

Secure the seat with new bolts, first at the back and then at the front. Do not tighten the bolt yet.

Note: If you are reusing old bolts, you will need to coat them with sealant before installation.

Tighten the seat mounting bolts in the following order to 40 Nm: front inner, front outer, rear inner, rear outer.

Power Seat: Move the seat all the way back, insert the plug and secure it. Replace the cover.

Connect the multi-pin plug and secure it.

Install the shields.

Attach the seat belt height adjustment cable and secure it.

Install the seat belt at the bottom and tighten its mounting bolt to a torque of 50 Nm.

Only if the electric drive system for moving the seat in the longitudinal direction is faulty

Remove the inner seat shield.

Move the seat back up.

If present, remove the hose from the seat ventilation pump.

Remove the two front bolts on the runners and move the seat back.



Unscrew the two bolts of the seat longitudinal movement drive and pull out the drive.

Turn on the seat forward/backward movement control switch.

Doesn't work: Install a new drive and turn it on. If the movement system now works, then the system is OK, only the drive needs to be replaced.

The drive works but the seat does not move: The seat movement system is faulty, replace it.

Disconnect the plug for longitudinal seat movement.

Using large nippers, separate the connecting shaft.

Unscrew the two nuts and remove the drive mechanisms on the left and right.

Then you can move the seat by hand.

Bolt the seat rails to the front of the frame (for removal only).

Remove the seat and replace the seat runners.
