It is recommended to repair even the smallest damage to the paint regularly, as this prevents rust and more serious damage.
To eliminate small potholes and traces of stone impacts, which damage only the surface layer of paint, not reaching the metal, it is enough to apply a coat of paint. You can use a can of paint and a lid with a brush, as well as a self-adhesive paint film if the damage is very small or the primer is not damaged.
Deeper damage that has already formed a speck or stripe of rust should be brushed to remove rust or cleaned with a knife or small screwdriver to bare metal. There should be no trace of rust left. Cleaned areas must be dry and free of grease. To do this, you need to clean them with a special composition.
Apply a thin coat of primer to the metal surface with a brush. Since primer is often found in aerosol cans, you can spray some primer into the top of the can and dip the brush into it.
After the primer dries, paint over the primed area with paint. Often in small jars, a brush is already built into the lid. If the paint is in a spray can, then in this case you need to spray the paint into the cap of the spray can and then dip a small brush into it. When painting, apply only one thin coat of paint at a time to keep the paint from dripping. Then you need to let the paint dry. Repeat the process until the recess is filled and the repair site is flush with the surrounding painted surface.
