To perform bodywork and painting work, you must have experience in such work. Obviously, such experience is usually acquired over long practice. For this reason, this chapter describes only work on eliminating minor damage to the body and paintwork.
For touch-up painting, it is necessary to use only the same color, composition and type of chamfer, since even the smallest difference in color will immediately catch the eye after finishing the work. The type of paint is indicated by the manufacturer using a code on the plate, which is located next to the identification plate of the car in the engine compartment on its right side.
If, despite using the original paint, there are differences in color after repair work, this is because the paint on the car changes color over time due to aging, exposure to sunlight, temperature fluctuations, weather conditions, and chemical compounds. In addition, surface damage, color changes, and fading of the paint can occur when cleaning and maintaining the paintwork is done with unsuitable products.
Metallic paint consists of 2 layers: the base "metallic" paint and a colorless protective varnish. When painting, the transparent varnish is sprayed onto the wet base paint. The risk of color mismatch when repair painting with metallic paint is especially high, since in this case the different viscosity of the repair and original paint plays a role.
