The brake pedal must be replaced in the following order. Disconnect the "-" terminal from the battery. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the left lower instrument trim panel in the driver's footwell area. Remove the pedal mechanism trim. If necessary, remove the reinforcing plate and switch module.

Under the panel, carefully lift the spring clip tongues (4) and remove the clips. Disconnect the end of the return spring (6) from the brake pedal lever (1). Remove the pin (5) and disconnect the vacuum booster rod from the brake pedal. Remove the brake pedal from the bracket (9).

Inspect all components of the pedal assembly for damage and wear, paying particular attention to the bushings (3) of the hinge. Replace parts as necessary.

The brake pedal should be installed in the reverse order, while applying a small amount of universal grease such as "Ranocal FN-745" or "Glissando VW-745" onto the bushings (3) of the hinge and the hole. Connect the AB, adjust the brake light switch and make a test drive at medium speed with periodic braking.
