Snow chains and spare tire (BMW X5 E53)

Anti-skid chains should be installed only on the drive wheels. Before installing the chains, it is necessary to remove the decorative wheel caps. The speed of movement, in this case, is limited to 50 km/h. Chain link (2, Fig. 15.3) should protrude above the wheel surface by no more than 15 mm, including the chain lock. After overcoming difficult sections, the chains should be removed.

Spare wheel

The spare wheel is light alloy and is included in the vehicle kit only as an emergency wheel. It has a different design and is not intended for continuous use at standard driving speeds.
