BMW cars of the X-5 series E-53 are equipped with a sound signal consisting of high- and low-tone sources, which are installed behind the front bumper. To protect the sound signal from overloads, it is switched on via the contacts of the relay, which is switched on by the sound signal panel located on the steering wheel. The sound signal must be checked in the following order. Connect the sound signal using auxiliary wires directly to the battery. In this case, connect the violet-blue wire to the "+" of the battery, and the brown wire to the "-" of the battery and make sure that the signal sounds.
When installing the horn, tighten its mounting bolts to a torque of 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m).
