Replacing the ignition coil (BMW X5 E53)

The ignition coil must be replaced in the following order. Turn off the ignition and remove the engine soundproofing casing. Release the air conditioner intake pipe from the side of cylinders 1–4. Remove the plugs from the ignition coil protective casings (arrows). Unscrew the nuts and remove the casing (1, Fig. 5.195) ignition coils (IC).



Unlock and disconnect the ignition coils from the ignition coils and remove them by moving them upwards. This sequence of operations is identical for all coils. The ignition coils should be installed in the reverse order, while it is necessary to insert the rubber seal to the coils (2, Fig. 4.196) ignition between the guides (arrows).



After replacing the ignition coils, it is necessary to read the fault information from the memory of the ECU-KSUD of the "DME" system. Eliminate the faults and erase the fault information from the memory of the ECU.
