Four-cylinder engine
Removal
Remove the lower part of the oil pan.
Loosen the drive chain sprocket mounting nut and remove the sprocket. Remove the mounting washer.
Unscrew and remove the oil pump.
Turn the oil pump drive shaft by hand, checking the ease of rotation of the oil pump.
Wash the oil intake screen in gasoline.
Unscrew the oil pump cover and check the housing and rotors for scratches and wear. If necessary, replace the oil pump.
Remove the bypass valve from the oil pump. Check the piston for ease of movement and measure the length of the pressure spring. Specified value in a free state: 68 mm.
Remove and check the overload valve.
Installation
Install the overload valve.
Insert the bypass valve with a new gasket.
Screw on the oil pump cover.
Install the oil pump, inserting a new O-ring between the housing and the vacuum hose. Make sure that the oil hole in the compensating plate is not blocked. Secure the oil pump with a tightening torque of 22 Nm.
Place the mounting washer on the pump shaft.
Place the chain on the sprocket and place the sprocket on the pump shaft.
Tighten the fastening nut to a torque of 9 Nm.
Check the chain tension by pressing with your finger. When lightly pressed, the chain should bend slightly. The chain tension is adjusted by a compensation plate between the pump and the motor unit. If the chain tension is too low, install a thicker compensation plate.
Install the lower part of the oil pan.
