Four cylinder engine
Withdrawal
Remove the lower part of the oil sump.
Loosen the nut securing the drive chain sprocket and remove the sprocket. Remove mounting washer.
Unscrew and pull out the oil pump.
Turn the oil pump drive shaft by hand, while checking that the oil pump rotates freely.
Rinse the oil intake screen in gasoline.
Unscrew the oil pump cover and check for scratches and wear on the housing and rotors. If required, replace the oil pump.
Remove the bypass valve from the oil pump. Check the piston for ease of movement and measure the length of the pressure spring. Set value in free state: 68 mm.
Remove and check the overload valve.
Installation
Install the overload valve.
Insert bypass valve with new gasket.
Screw on the oil pump cover.
Install the oil pump, while inserting a new O-ring between the housing and the vacuum hose. Make sure that the lubrication hole in the compensating plate is not blocked. Fasten the oil pump with a tightening torque of 22 Nm.
Slide the shim onto the pump shaft.
Put the chain on the sprocket and put the sprocket on the pump shaft.
Tighten the fastening nut to 9 Nm.
Check chain tension with finger pressure. When pressed lightly, the chain should flex slightly. The chain tension is adjusted by a compensation board between the pump and the motor unit. If the chain tension is too low, install a thicker compensation plate.
Install the lower part of the oil pan.
