Withdrawal
Remove the oil pan. Remove the three bolts securing the driven gear to the pump.
Attention: On some models, the gear is fastened with one central nut.
Disconnect the oil pump from the engine block.
Remove the pump.
Inspection
Caution: Given that a malfunctioning oil pump can cause severe engine damage, it is recommended that the pump be replaced every time the engine is overhauled.
Remove cover and inspect housing, gears and rotors, and pump cover for cracks and signs of wear (especially on the contact surfaces of gears or rotors).
Make sure the strainer is not clogged or damaged.
Lubricate the gears with clean engine oil, then place the cap on the pump housing and tighten the bolts evenly and securely.
Before installing the pump (new, refurbished or old) check its correctness. Fill a clean container with fresh engine oil of the recommended viscosity (the oil level must be at least 2.5 cm).
Immerse the pump inlet in oil and turn the drive shaft counterclockwise. Oil should flow from the pump outlet.
Installation
Make sure the walls of the mounting recess are clean, then push the pump back into place. Install the bolts and tighten them to the required torque.
Install in reverse order.
