Connecting and disconnecting the quick release coupling (BMW 3 Series E46)

The coolant hoses and connections are connected by quick-release couplings. The connection/disconnection of the quick-release coupling is described using the example of the coupling of the upper radiator hoses.

Opening

1. Drain the coolant into a container, refer to Section Replacing the coolant.



2. Use a screwdriver to pull out the wire clips "1" and "2".

3. Disconnect the coupling.

Compound

4. Check the sealing rings in the quick-release couplings. Replace if damaged.

5. Press the wire retainers onto the coupling before installation.

6. Connect the coupling. The clamps should clearly lock into place.

7. Fill the system with coolant and bleed the system, refer to Section Replacing the coolant.
