Note. To verify that it is the braking system that is at fault, check that the tires are in good condition and properly inflated, that the front wheel alignments are within the recommended limits, and that the vehicle is evenly loaded. Except for checking the condition of all pipes, hoses, and connections when any malfunction of the ABS system, contact your dealer.
Vehicle skids to one side when braking
- Worn, damaged or dirty front or rear brake pads on one side (chapters 9 and 1)
- Jamming or partial seizure of the brake caliper piston (chapters 9 and 1).
- Brake pads installed on the same axle of the car are made of various materials (chapters 9 and 1).
- Loose brake caliper bolts (chapter 9). Worn or damaged suspension or steering components (chapters 1 and 10).
Noise (screech) when braking
- Wear of the friction lining to the base metal of the brake shoe (chapters 1 and 9).
- Excessive brake disc corrosion (may occur during long-term storage of the car) (chapters 1 and 9).
- Jamming inside the brake of foreign particles (fragments of stones, etc.), in contact with the disc (chapters 1 and 9).
Excessive brake pedal travel
- Master cylinder failure (chapter 9).
- Air in the hydraulic system (chapters 1 and 9).
- Vacuum booster malfunction (chapter 9)
Feeling "elasticity" when pressing the brake pedal
- Air in the hydraulic system (chapter 9).
- Deterioration of the brake hoses (chapters 1 and 9).
- Loosening master cylinder nuts (chapter 9).
- Master cylinder failure (chapter 9).
Excessive brake pedal force is required to stop the vehicle
- Vacuum booster malfunction (chapter 9).
- Disconnection, damage or loose fastening of the brake booster vacuum hose (chapter 9).
- Malfunction of the primary or secondary hydraulic circuit (chapter 9)
- Brake caliper piston sticking (chapter 9).
- Incorrect installation of brake pads (chapters 1 and 9).
- Installation of non-regulated brake pads (chapters 1 and 9).
- Dirt on brake pads (chapter 9).
Sensation of intense vibration when braking through the brake pedal or steering wheel
- Excessive wheel runout or warpage (chapters 1 and 9).
- Wear of brake pads (chapters 1 and 9).
- Loose brake caliper bolts (chapter 9).
- Worn suspension or steering components (chapters 1 and 10)
