Comment. Before starting work, read the warnings in paragraph 1 of this chapter.
1. If during the test described in chapter 1, a defective hose is found, it must be replaced as described below.
2. Drain the cooling system first (see chapter 1); if the antifreeze does not require replacement, the sleeping liquid can be reused, but it should be stored in a clean container.
3. To disconnect the hose, remove the wire clamp and pull the hose from the fitting (pic. 2.3, a, b). Some hoses are fastened with conventional clamps. To disconnect the hose, loosen the clamp and pull it off the fitting along the hose. Carefully pull the hose off the fitting. As long as the hose is relatively new, it is not difficult to pull it off. A hot hose is also removed more easily than a cold one, but working with hot hoses is not recommended - you can get burned.
4. Be aware that radiator hoses are very fragile - do not use brute force to remove hoses from them. If the hose does not pull off, try turning it on the nozzle.
If by no means it is possible to remove the hose from the nozzle. cut it with a sharp knife and peel it like an orange peel. The hose after that, of course, will have to be replaced, but this is cheaper than changing the radiator.
5. To connect the hose, simply slide the end of the hose onto the fitting and secure it with a clamp or spring clip. To check that the hose is secure, pull it back off the fitting. When using conventional clamps, first put the clamp on the hose and pull it along the hose, then put on the hose but the nozzle. If the hose was originally secured with spring clamps, replace the clamps with non-traditional screw clamps. If the hose is difficult to put on the nozzle, moisten it with water. When attaching the hose to the fitting, make sure that the hose is routed correctly and that it is not kinked after installation. After installing the hose ends on the nozzles, pull the clamps to the ends of the hose by the protrusions of the nozzles and tighten the clamps.
6. Check coolant level and top up as needed.
7. After replacing hoses, check connections as soon as possible for leaks.
