Forward cuff of a cranked shaft
1. The operation of replacing this seal is described in paragraph 6 as part of the procedure for removing and installing the camshaft timing chain cover.
Rear collar of the crankshaft
Note. When assembling, you will need a new gasket under the cuff body.
2. Remove the flywheel (or faceplate), as specified in paragraph 15.
3. Turn out bolts of fastening of the back party of the pallet to the cuff case.
4. Turn out bolts of fastening of the case of a cuff to the block of cylinders.
5. If the cuff body is stuck to the pan gasket, separate the cuff body from the gasket with a sharp, thin tool. Be careful not to damage the pan gasket.
6. Remove the case with a cuff from the block of cylinders. If the housing does not separate from the cylinder block, tap it with a mallet. Do not press the housing against the cylinder block with any tool, as their mating surfaces will almost certainly be damaged.
7. Remove the gasket.
8. Carefully remove traces of the old gasket from the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and cuff housing. Do not damage the pan gasket. If the sump gasket is still damaged, remove the sump (see paragraph 12) and replace gasket.
9. Support the cuff body on two wooden blocks and knock out the old cuff with a hammer through the beard.
10. Clean the collar bore in the body.
11. Since April 1998, a cuff without a spring has been produced for spare parts. Such a cuff can only be installed using a special mandrel (attached to the new cuff). Insert the mandrel into the cuff. Carefully press the collar with the mandrel into the body with a hammer through a pipe of a suitable diameter or a block of wood (pic. 14.11).
12. Check that the oil seal housing dowel pins are in place in the cylinder block and install a new oil seal housing gasket on them.
13. Establish on a laying the case with a cuff, having put on a cuff with a mandrel on a cranked shaft.
14. Screw in bolts of fastening of the case to the block of cylinders and to the pallet and tighten bots while only by hand.
15. Torque tighten first the bolts securing the housing to the cylinder block, then to the pallet.
16. Remove the mandrel from the cuff and reinstall the flywheel (faceplate), as specified in paragraph 15.

17. The camshafts are not sealed with cuffs, but with gaskets for the cylinder head cover and timing chain cover.
