Checking the working pressure of the Borg Warner 65 gearbox (BMW 5 Series E12)

            0

Place the vehicle on a level surface and, if necessary, restore the oil level in the gearbox oil pan by setting the selector lever to the "P" position with the engine idling.

For testing, use the 240000 test device or a similar type of device.

Unscrew the plug with fitting 240065. Screw fitting 240064 into the gearbox hole and connect it with a hose to the control device.

Warning: Use threaded nipple 240063 for transmissions up to #18044 or nipple 240064 for transmissions from #18045. Otherwise, the threads of the transmission housing hole may be damaged.

The working pressure is checked with the parking brake applied and the engine idling, with the selector lever in position "O".

When the throttle control cable is adjusted correctly, the operating pressure of the gearbox should be within the range of 3.5-4.6 kg/cm².

If there is any deviation from the norm, disconnect the throttle control cable from the intermediate lever. Squeeze the cable tip with pliers so that it can move along the cable. Adjust the length of the cable on the fork and connect it to the intermediate lever so that the working pressure is within 3.5-4.6 kg / cm². Then clamp the tip on the cable at a distance of 0.25 + 0.25 mm from the end of the cable sheath.

Check the engine speed with the brake pedal depressed and the parking brake applied, placing the selector lever in the "R" or "1" position.
