Total mileage counter

Records the total number of kilometers traveled.

Odometer since reset

Registers mileage up to 999.9 km.

Setting to zero (from the moment the key in the ignition switch is turned to position 1). Press the button.

The total mileage counter and the meter can be read with the key removed or turned to position 0 in the lock.

To do this, press the zero setting button; the corresponding indication will appear for a while.

Tachometer (Main scale)

Do not allow the engine speed to increase to the point where the needle enters the red zone.

In this range, in order to protect the engine, the fuel supply is interrupted, which makes itself known by interruptions in its operation.

Econometer (Lower scale)

Indicates fuel consumption in litres per 100 km, starting from a speed of approx. 20 km/h.

This device allows you to monitor the economical driving mode.

Fuel level indicator

The reserve indicator lamp lights up when there are still about 8 liters of fuel left in the tank.

To check the serviceability, the lamp lights up for a short time when the ignition is turned on.

Coolant temperature gauge

Arrow in a blue field - the engine is cold. It is recommended to drive at medium engine speed and moderate speed.

The arrow is in the red field, the control lamp lights up, and the inscription appears on the control and signal display* "Kuhlwassertemp" ("Coolant temperature") - Engine overheating. Immediately switch off and cool the engine. The arrow between the colored fields is the normal operating temperature. At high outside temperatures or heavy engine loads, the arrow may approach the red field. Checking the coolant level - see Chapter Routine car maintenance.

Indication of maintenance intervals

Indication of maintenance intervals

Green fields - the smaller the number of luminous fields, the closer the time for the next maintenance of your car.

Yellow field together with the OILSERVICE indication (OIL CHANGE) or INSPECTION (MAINTENANCE) - lights up when the time for maintenance has arrived and remains lit continuously.

Red field - the deadline for maintenance has expired.

The appearance of the clock symbol together with the INSPECTION indication (MAINTENANCE) - indicates the next time it is time to replace the brake fluid.

The time the vehicle is parked while the battery is disconnected is not included in the service interval indication.

In order to comply with the two-year interval for replacing the brake fluid, this period of time must be taken into account, i.e. the brake fluid must be replaced accordingly before the clock symbol appears.

The indicator goes out after the engine is started. After maintenance at a BMW service center, the indicator is reset by specialists to its original position.

You will find more detailed information on this matter in the service book.
