Annually or every 20,000 km.
The transmission has a filler/oil gauge plug that must be removed to check the oil level. If the car is raised to allow access to this plug, make sure it is secure - do not climb under a car that is only on a jack!
To properly check the oil level, the vehicle must be level.
1. Remove the plug from the transmission, insert your little finger into the hole in the plug and feel the oil level. It should be near the bottom of the cork hole.
2. If this is not the case, add the specified Table of sizes and adjustment data at the end of the Guide oil through the hole in the plug with a syringe until the oil starts to pour out of the hole. The type of oil is specified in paragraph. Types of lubricants and fluids used in Table of sizes and adjustment data. On some recent models, manual gearboxes are filled with automatic transmission fluid. These boxes usually have a badge next to the filler/level plug. If you are still in doubt, check with the dealer service department.
3. Install the plug and tighten securely. After a few kilometers, check for fluid leaks.
4. If you notice that the transmission requires frequent topping up, this may only be due to the presence of leaks that should be identified and repaired before serious problems appear.
