- opening the door, hood or trunk lid
- movement in the car (interior radio protection system)
- change in vehicle roll, such as when trying to steal a wheel or tow
- battery interruption
The system reacts to these actions of unauthorized persons as follows:
- alarm sounds for 30 seconds
- hazard warning lights on for 5 minutes
- dipped beam flashes synchronously with hazard warning lights
Arming and disarming
Arming and disarming the alarm are carried out simultaneously with the locking and unlocking of the car by turning the key in any lock or using radio remote control.
The radio interior protection system is activated approximately 30 seconds after the last turn of the key in the lock.
If the arming is done properly, this is indicated by a single operation of the emergency light alarm.
The trunk can also be opened after arming the alarm by pressing button 3 on the radio remote control. After closing the trunk lid, it is again taken under the control of the burglar alarm.
For some export models, the burglar alarm can only be activated using the radio remote control. Unlocking the car with a key from a single lock causes the alarm to go off in these models. Button press 1 (Unlock) or starting the engine disables the alarm.
Signals of a control lamp
The control lamp under the rear-view mirror in the passenger compartment is constantly on: the burglar alarm is activated.
The control lamp flashes when arming the alarm: the doors, hood or trunk lid are not tightly closed. Even if you leave everything as it is, the remaining correctly closed objects will be armed, the lamp will start to burn constantly after 10 seconds. However, the radio interior protection system is not activated
The control lamp goes out when the alarm is disarmed: no unauthorized manipulations have been performed with the car. The control lamp flashes for about 10 seconds when the alarm is disarmed: a signal of the fact of extraneous interference.
After the alarm has been triggered, the control lamp will again be on permanently.
Roll security sensor
To avoid an alarm in case of spontaneous operation of the security tilt sensor (e.g. in a two-story garage or when transporting a car by rail) or as a result of the operation of the radio interior protection system, these systems can be deactivated at the same time.
Lock the car twice, i.e. arm it twice. In other words, press button 2 on the radio remote control twice or lock the car with the key twice.
The indicator lamp will flash briefly and then stay on. The tilt sensor and radio interior protection system will be disabled until the vehicle is disarmed.
Interior radio protection system
For the radio interior protection system to function properly, the windows and the sliding/tilting sunroof must be closed.
Switch off the interior radio protection system if
- children or animals must remain in the car
- windows or sunroof must remain open
Interrupting the process of closing the sliding/tilting sunroof and windows during the first 10 seconds and its immediate resumption leads to the deactivation of the tilt security sensor and the radio interior protection system. If this happens, to reactivate the tilt sensor and radio interior protection system, you must disable the burglar alarm and re-enable it.
Emergency shutdown of the alarm
If normal deactivation of the security alarm with the vehicle locked is not possible, proceed as follows:
1. Unlock the door with the key (the alarm will sound for 30 seconds).
2. Sit behind the wheel, close the door behind you and, before the horn stops, insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to position.
3. Wait until the control lamp goes out, and a single lock will work to unlock the remaining doors (in about 10 minutes). During this time, do not open your door and keep the ignition key in position 1.
As a result, the burglar alarm will be deactivated, but it is necessary to contact a BMW workshop to have it checked.
