Note: In order to be able to continue driving, it is also possible, especially in summer, to top up with clean water. However, after this, it is necessary to bring the concentration of antifreeze in the coolant to the required level as soon as possible.
Petrol engine:

Diesel engine:

The coolant level with a cold engine (liquid temperature approximately +20°C) should be at the MAX mark of the expansion tank. The end of the red float rod "arrow" should be at the same height as the upper edge of the expansion tank filler pipe.
To avoid engine damage, add cold coolant only when the engine is cold.
Caution: Do not open the expansion tank cap when the engine is hot. Risk of scalding from steam! The cooling system is under pressure! Open the cap only when the coolant temperature is below +60°C. Before opening the cap, place a rag on it.
When opening the lid, first turn it only a little to release excess pressure. Then unscrew the lid completely and remove it.
If the coolant level drops in a short period of time, perform a visual inspection checking the cooling system for tightness.
