- A 16mm spark plug wrench that comes with the original tool kit or can be bought inexpensively from motorcycle supply stores.
- Socket wrench 10 mm.
The following parts are required for replacement:
Withdrawal
The engine must be allowed to cool until it is warm to the touch.
Remove ignition coils.
Remove the spark plugs with a wrench and check their condition (so-called "candle face"). With some experience, based on the results of the inspection, conclusions can be drawn about the operating condition of the engine.
Installation
Clean the threads on the spark plugs with a clean cloth.
Screw the spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand until it stops.
Attention: Do not twist candles when wrapping.
Tighten spark plugs to 25 Nm.
Attention: If there is no torque wrench, tighten the new spark plugs by 90° (¼ turn), turn used spark plugs approx. 15°further. Spark plugs that are too tight can strip or damage the threads in the cylinder head when they are turned out. In this case, the spark plug threads should be repaired using UTC or Heli-Coil inserts.
Install the ignition coils and engine cover, while making sure the fit is correct spark plug tips and bulk jumpers.
