No special tools or replacement parts are required to check the condition of the belt.
Status check
Switch off the ignition.
Mark the belt in a clearly visible place with a chalk line.
Slowly turn the engine crankshaft with stops and check the condition of the V-ribbed belt. Turning the crankshaft of the engine outlined here.
Check poly V-belt for the following damage:
Traces of oil and grease.
Hardening of the material of the belt.
Wear of the side surfaces of the wedges: the wedges are worn to a pointed state -B-, the wedges of the new belt have a trapezoidal shape in cross section.
At the base of the belt ribs, a cord is visible, which appears as light spots -C-.
Transverse cracks -D- on the back of the belt.
Separate ribs -E- moved away from the base of the belt.
Fringes -F- on the outer side of the belt.
Longitudinal cracks and broken cords -G- on the sides of the belt.
Transverse cracks -H- on many ribs.
Rib fractures -J-.
Separate transverse cracks in the ribs -K-.
Deposits of dirt and stones between the ribs.
Rubber pellets at the base of the ribs.
If one of these several types of damage is found, then according to a new belt replace.
Check poly V-belt for hardening and cracking. Otherwise, the V-ribbed belt does not require maintenance. It is not necessary to tighten the belt.
