Removal and installation the torsional vibration damper (BMW 7 Series E38)

1. Remove the crankcase guard.

2. Remove the drive belts (see section Removal and installation drive belts and their tensioners).

3. Remove the bolts at the bottom of the gearbox.

4. Loosen the bolt (1), move the sliding sleeve (2) down as far as it will go, secure tool No.11 8 181 to the gearbox, insert and tighten the bolts (3).

6. Fix the flywheel by moving the sliding sleeve (1) upward until it stops against the flywheel ring gear and tighten the bolt (2).

7. Remove the bolts (1) of the vibration damper (2).

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, using new vibration damper mounting bolts.
