Removal and installation the flywheel (BMW 7 Series E38)

1. Remove the manual transmission together with the clutch or automatic transmission (see chapter Manual gearbox and clutch or Automatic transmission).

2. Secure the flywheel using special tool No.11 2 070 (see illustration).

3. Unscrew the flywheel mounting bolts and remove it.

4. Check the condition of the flywheel centering bushing and replace it if necessary.

On models with manual transmission/automatic transmission, bushings of different lengths are used.


5. Clean all threaded holes in the crankshaft, install the flywheel and tighten its mounting bolts in a cross pattern.
