Removal and installation the oil pump (BMW 7 Series E38)

Removal of the oil pump sprocket is not permitted.


1. Remove the oil pan (see section Removal and installation the oil pan).

2. Remove the bolts.

3. Remove the oil pump (1) by moving it downwards and insert the tab (2) behind the bolt (3). Press the oil pump upwards and lift the chain (4) over the sprocket. Remove the oil pump together with the suction pipe.

4. Unscrew the bolts (1) and remove the suction pipe (3).

When installing, replace the gasket (2) and clean the surface (4).
