Removal and installation the intake manifold (BMW 7 Series E38)

After removing the intake manifold, the intake ports in the cylinder head should be immediately closed.


If the installed boost air hoses are not degreased and are damp, this may lead to turbocharger failure.


1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Remove the top engine cover.

3. Loosen the clamps (1) and remove the right (2) and left (3) charge air pressure hoses.

7. Slide the lock (1) forward and disassemble the connection (2).

8. Remove the bolts (1) and move the vacuum line (2) to the side.

9. Remove the bolts (1) and loosen the clamps (2) of the EGR valves.



When installing, place the clamps in their original places.

10. Disconnect the connector.

11. Cut the clamps (1) and disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses (2).

Collect any leaking fuel.

12. Unscrew the bolt (1) and remove the holder (2).

14. Move aside and secure the fuel supply and return hoses.

15. Loosen the intake manifold mounting bolts and remove it, then immediately close the intake ports to prevent dirt from getting into them.

16. Clean the mating surfaces of the removed components, install new gaskets.

17. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
