Attention:
- High pressure in the refrigerant circuit.
- Carry out repair work only when there is no pressure in the refrigerant circuit.
- Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigeration oil.
- Observe safety requirements when handling R134a refrigerant.
- Observe safety requirements when handling refrigeration oil.
Attention:
- Risk of damage. Only BMW recommended R134a refrigerant may be used.
- Start the engine only when the air conditioner is charged according to all the rules.
Note: Pumping, vacuuming and filling the air conditioner must be carried out only in accordance with the operating manual of the corresponding service unit.
1. Instructions for pumping refrigerant from the air conditioner:
1) To improve the separation of the refrigerant from the refrigeration oil, let the car engine run for a few minutes at low speeds (800-1200 rpm) with the air conditioner on.
This helps to ensure that less oil is carried along with the refrigerant during pumping.
2) Upon completion of the work, it is necessary to fill the air conditioner through the service unit with the same amount of fresh oil that was pumped out when removing the refrigerant.
3) If at the end of the pumping down the service station indicator shows that the moisture content of the pumped down refrigerant is too high, the refrigerant must be purified in accordance with the service station operating manual.
Attention:
- The pumped out oil is disposed of as special waste.
2. Instructions for vacuuming the air conditioner.
1) During vacuuming, atmospheric air, water vapor and other gases are completely removed from the air conditioner. This makes it possible to subsequently refill the air conditioner with refrigerant.
2) A decrease in the degree of vacuum indicates a leak in the refrigerant circuit.

3. Instructions for filling the air conditioner.
1) Before filling the air conditioner with refrigerant, it is necessary to add refrigeration oil in the amount that leaked out during evacuation of the refrigerant.
2) Follow the instructions for disassembling and replacing parts of the refrigerant circuit.
3) In case of replacement of a part in the air conditioner, depending on the type of part, it is necessary to add refrigeration oil, even if no noticeable losses were detected during pumping. Observe the relevant instructions of the air conditioner manufacturer and the operating manual of the service station.
4) The air conditioner capacity is indicated on the nameplate (1) in the engine compartment.
5) If necessary, find the filling capacity values in the Technical Specifications.
4. Close the air conditioner filler nipples on the vehicle again with caps.
