Rear axle beam thrust rod (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation the rear axle beam thrust rod



Attention:
  • Observe safety precautions when lifting a vehicle.
  • Movement without jet propulsion is prohibited.


1. Remove both rods.

2. Lower the rear section of the exhaust system.

3. Loosen the screws (1) and remove the heat-insulating screen (2).

Tightening torque: 5 Nm.

Caution: Failure to follow these instructions may cause the vehicle to slip off the lift, causing serious injury.


Note: When propping up, ensure that:
  • the car no longer rose or fell;
  • the car did not lift off the lift's support plates.

Caution: Support the rear axle beam by placing a jack under the shaded area.

4. Unscrew the screw (1), press the tunnel insulation down slightly and unscrew the screw (2).



5. Unscrew the screws (4).

Tightening torque: 21 Nm.

6. Loosen the screws (3) and remove the reaction rod (5).

7. Secure the rear axle beam by screwing in the screws (3).

Note: When installing, check the integrity of the threads. If necessary, repair the threads using wire inserts. Check that the parking brake cables are positioned correctly.


Tightening torque: 77 Nm.

8. Reposition both parking brake cable brackets.

Note: Only when replacing the rear axle beam torque rod.


9. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
