Removal and installation the generator (m54 engine)
1. Check the recorded error messages.
2. Turn off the ignition.
Note: Follow the procedure for disconnecting and connecting the battery.
3. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and cover it with a cap.
4. Remove the air filter housing.
5. Remove the generator drive belt.
6. Unlock and disconnect the connector (1).
7. Unscrew the nut (2) and remove the positive battery cable.
Tightening torque:
- Contact D+: 5 Nm - 7 Nm.
- Contact B+: 8 -13 Nm.
8. Remove the cover from the idler pulley (1).
9. Unscrew the bolt and remove the idler pulley (1).
10. Unscrew the bolt and remove the generator (2).
Note: When installing, the tension roller retainer must be locked into the generator groove.
11. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
Note:
- Read information from the DME control unit fault memory.
- Erase information in the fault memory.
