Removal and installation the generator (m57 TU/M57 T2 engine)



1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Remove the fan shroud.

3. Remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt.

4. Remove the generator drive belt.

5. Remove the front engine crankcase protection panel.

6. Remove the left turbocharger hose.

7. Unscrew the nut (1).

8. Disconnect the connector (2).

Note:
  • From contact 30 of the generator, power is additionally supplied to the pre-heating control unit.
  • It is imperative that this wire be connected, otherwise it will cause damage to the glow plug system.


9. Remove the plug (1) and unscrew the screw located underneath it.

10. Remove the bypass element (2).

11. Unscrew the screw (1).

12. Remove the idler pulley (2).

13. Unscrew the screws (3).

14. Remove the generator (4).

Note: With SA Dynamic Drive, the alternator must be removed in a downward motion.


Caution: Be careful not to damage the cooling system.


15. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.

Note: Check DDE functionality.
