Catalyst (N46 engine) (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation the catalytic converter (n46 engine)



Caution: These operations should only be performed on a cold exhaust system.


Please note: When replacing the catalytic converter on vehicles manufactured before 03/2007, the DME data level must be updated.


1. Remove the adjustment probe.

2. Remove the control probe.

3. Determine the cutting line.

1) Transfer the length of the new catalyst to the installed catalyst (2).

2) Mark the cutting line (1).

4. Cut off the exhaust pipe using tool 002210 and deburr the edges.

5. Unscrew the nuts and remove the catalytic converter.

Note:
  • When installing, it is necessary to connect the new catalytic converter and the front muffler using clamp couplings.
  • The joint should be in the middle of the coupling.
  • Align the exhaust system and clamping couplings so that they are located at a sufficient distance from adjacent components.
  • Adjust the position of the exhaust pipes (1) relative to the body opening.
  • Tighten the clamping sleeve bolts.


6. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.

Note: After installation, the exhaust system must be checked for leaks.
