Removal and installation the middle muffler (n46 engine)



Caution: Perform these tasks only on a cold engine.


1. Remove the exhaust system assembly.

2. Determine the cutting lines (2) and (4) between the catalytic converter (1) and the rear muffler…


2. Determine the cutting lines (2) and (4) between the catalytic converter (1) and the rear muffler (5).

3. Measure the length of the pipe on the new middle muffler (3).

4. Transfer the dimensions to the faulty middle muffler (3) and mark the cutting lines.

5. Cut off the exhaust pipe using tool 002210 and deburr the edges.

6. Connect the middle muffler to the catalytic converter using a clamp coupling.

Note: Position the clamping couplings so that the nuts face down, the joint is in the middle of the coupling, and there is sufficient space for adjacent parts.


7. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.

Note: After installation, the exhaust system must be checked for leaks.
