Warning! Heating the PVC coating with a gas burner to a temperature above 180°C leads to the release of hydrochloric acid vapors. When PVC burns, the new coating adheres poorly, so that sub-film corrosion may occur later.

Restoration of anti-corrosion protection of the car body (BMW X5 E53)
Restoring the anti-corrosion protection of the body after repair must begin with removing the old polyvinyl chloride (PVC) anti-corrosion coating of the body, the insulating coating and sealing the seams in the repair area. Removal of the PVC coating must be carried out using a rotating metal brush or by heating the surface with hot air at a maximum temperature of 180°C and raking off its coating with a spatula.
