Replacing the fuel pump (BMW X5 E53)

Replacement of the main (additional) fuel pump must be carried out in the following order. Turn off the ignition, unscrew the fastening of the tank protection on the left side, lower it and fix it.

Disconnect the SS (1. Fig. 6.108), loosen the clamps (2) and disconnect the fuel hoses (3) from the fuel pump (4).

Remove only the screws (5) from the holder (6) and remove the fuel pump (4).



The fuel pump should be installed in the reverse order, while it is necessary to replace the fuel hose clamps (∅ 10–16 mm) and tighten their fastening screws to a torque of 2.0 N·m (0.2 kgf·m).
