Attention! To avoid burns from vapors, all work must be carried out only on a cold engine.
The replacement of the engine vacuum pump must be carried out in the following order. Remove the fan shroud and soundproof shroud. On engines with an exhaust gas recirculation cooler, disconnect the pipe between the exhaust gas recirculation cooler and the exhaust gas return valve. On engines without an exhaust gas recirculation cooler, disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation pipe.
Loosen the screw and disconnect the vacuum hose (7, see fig. 6.17) from the vacuum pump. Remove bolts (3) and remove the vacuum pump (1).
The installation of the vacuum pump should be carried out in the reverse order, while it is necessary to replace the sealing ring (2) vacuum hose (8), after applying a thin layer of lubricant to facilitate sliding.
Replace the mounting bolts and apply a sealant of the type «Drei-Bond-1209», unless it is applied by the manufacturer. Replace o-ring (1, fig. 6.91) on the pump housing, having previously applied a thin layer of lubricant to facilitate sliding. Set the leash (2) vacuum pump in relation to the grooves on the camshaft drive sprocket.
Note. The camshaft sprocket bolt has a hole for vacuum pump lubrication, which must be clean.
Reassemble the engine and check the vacuum system for leaks.
