The exhaust gas aftertreatment system is designed to reduce the toxicity of the exhaust gas by directing part of the exhaust gas into the intake manifold - recirculation (EGR system), which lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber and the NOx content in the exhaust gas. The exhaust gas aftertreatment system with recirculation is shown in Figure 6.21.
Exhaust gas is taken directly from the exhaust manifold and fed through the pipeline (arrow) to the valve (10) return. Exhaust gas enters the intake manifold.
The intake of exhaust gas is regulated by the discharge of the pressure converter transmitted to the vacuum valve.
