The exhaust system includes an exhaust manifold, a turbocharger is used (TC), a three-way catalytic converter, extinguishers, an exhaust gas recirculation system, pipelines with system fastening elements on the car body. The M57TU engine has an additional diesel particulate filter. An exhaust manifold (pic. 6.18) has a studded flange connection with the engine cylinder head, using asbestos-free sealing gaskets (2,5). Exhaust manifold covered with heat shield (6).
The exhaust manifold, TC and downpipe are connected by bolts on the flanges. Mounting elements for the exhaust system (pic. 6.19) are threaded connections, clamps, retaining rings and rubber-metal hinges, which must be replaced with each disassembly of the system as a whole or replacement of its individual elements.
Used catalytic converter (1) is a so-called three-way catalytic converter based on rare earth metals. Due to their presence, carbon oxides are oxidized (SO) and hydrocarbons (NS), and the concentration of nitrogen oxides is also reduced (NOx).
