To prevent personal injury and/or damage to the ignition system, the following rules must be observed:
- Do not touch or disconnect the ignition wires with your hands while the engine is running or starting.
- Disconnect the wires of the ignition system only when the ignition is off. With the ignition on, high voltage can be generated from shaking the ignition distributor.
- Connecting and disconnecting control devices (speed meter, stroboscope), as well as wires of the ignition system, to be carried out only with the ignition off.
- To terminal 1 (-) ignition coils, it is forbidden to connect a radio interference capacitor and a control lamp-probe.
- Do not connect measuring instruments and a stroboscope with a supply voltage of 12 V to terminal 15 while the engine is running.
- Do not short terminal 1 and terminal 15 to ground. Do not connect terminal 1 to B+, in this case, terminal 1 cannot be used to block the engine start when installing the security system yourself.
- Before cranking the engine from the starter (e.g. when checking compression) turn off the ignition and disconnect the wire from terminal 15 at the ignition coil. On vehicles with OME, remove the main relay of the fuel injection system (relay 2). Never start the engine with the ignition distributor cap removed or with the ignition coil wires disconnected (terminal 4).
- It is not allowed to replace the ignition coil with a coil of a different type. Never install ignition coils designed for a contact ignition system.
- When heated to temperatures above 80°C (e.g. when painting a car) Do not start the engine immediately after the warm-up phase.
- When carrying out electric welding work, disconnect the battery from the electrical system.
- Wash the car only with the ignition off.
- Persons with cardiac pacemakers must not work on the electronic ignition system.
