Removal and installation drive shafts (BMW 5 Series E28)
Removal
1. Set the parking brake. Loosen the rear wheel mounting bolts, but do not remove them yet. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and securely support it on axle stands. Remove the wheel(s).

2. Wipe down the inner and outer CV joints to prevent dirt from getting inside when you open them. Loosen the six hex bolts on the inner CV joint and separate it from the inner flange.

3. Loosen the six hex bolts on the outer CV joint and disconnect it from the outer flange.
4. Remove the drive shaft.
Installation
Install in reverse order. Don't forget to tighten the CV joint hex bolts to the required torque.
