Note. When installing, you will need new bolts securing the drive shaft to the final drive flange and the wheel hub nut.
Withdrawal
1. Remove the disc cap or wheel hub cap, then loosen the hub nut without lifting the vehicle. Also, loosen the wheel bolts.
2. Chock the front wheels. Raise the rear of the car and place it on stands (cm. "Lifting and placing the car on supports").
3. Remove the appropriate rear wheel.
4. If you remove the left drive shaft. first remove part of the exhaust system (see chapter 4A).
5. Unscrew the anti-roll bar mounts and turn it down (see chapter 10).
6. Unscrew and remove the hub nut.
7. Mark the relative position of the input shaft relative to the final drive flange, then unscrew the mounting bolts (pic. 4.7). Secure the drive shaft with a piece of wire.
Note. Don't let that happen. so that the drive shaft hangs under its own weight, as this will damage the constant velocity joint.
8. Remove the drive shaft from the wheel hub. If the hinge does not come out, tap it with a soft metal hammer. If that doesn't help, try pushing the hinge out with a suitable tool that can be bolted to the hub.
9. Take out a leading shaft from under the car.
Installation
10. Installation is done in sequence. the reverse of the withdrawal, taking into account the following remarks.
- A) Lubricate the threads of the new wheel hub nut with clean engine oil before installing. Finally tighten the wheel hub nut after the vehicle is lowered to the ground. After tightening, tighten the nut (pic. 4.10).
- b) Insert new bolts securing the input shaft to the final drive flange and tighten them to the required torque.
