Gasoline engines
Be sure to use unleaded gasoline only.
It is not allowed to start an engine warmed up to operating temperature by pushing or towing. If necessary, start the engine from the battery of another vehicle. Once in the catalytic converter, unburned fuel can cause it to overheat and destroy during a flash.
If you have difficulty starting, do not keep the starter turned on uselessly for a long time. When starting, fuel is constantly injected. Determine the cause of the malfunction and eliminate.
When driving, never empty the tank completely.
If ignition faults occur, avoid running the engine at high engine speeds and rectify the cause of the fault immediately.
Use only standard spark plugs.
Do not perform any checks for spark with the spark plug tip removed.
It is impossible to carry out any comparative assessments of the operation of the cylinders by turning off the ignition of one cylinder. When the ignition of an individual cylinder is switched off - also through the engine test bench - unburned fuel enters the catalytic converter.
Gasoline and diesel engines
Do not park your vehicle over dry leaves and grass. The exhaust system in the area of the catalytic converter is very hot and radiates heat even after the engine has stopped.
Do not apply underbody protection to the exhaust system.
The heat shields of the exhaust system must not be modified.
When filling and topping up the oil level, pay particular attention to ensure that the maximum permissible level is never exceeded. Otherwise, as a result of incomplete combustion, excess oil enters the catalytic converter and can damage the precious metal or completely destroy the converter.
