Removal and installation the front wheel hub (BMW 5 Series E39)

Caution: If noise occurs from the outer front wheel during sharp turns, this indicates a defective wheel hub bearing.

Withdrawals

Remove the brake disc.



Unscrew the fastening of the pulse sensor "1" A8S.

Remove from swivel support tie rod end.

Unscrew the lower fastening -3/4- of the shock absorber strut, loosen the slot of the pivot support "5" and remove it from the shock absorber strut "2" by moving it downwards. If necessary, apply on the rack mounting mark.

Unscrew 4 bolts "8" and remove wheel hub "8" from the swivel support.

Installation

Clean and degrease the mating surfaces of the wheel hub and swivel support, as well as the threaded holes.

Place the wheel hub, screw on new self-locking bolts and tighten them to a torque of 110 Nm.

Using a garage jack, press the pivot support all the way up, ensuring that the mounting mark is positioned correctly

Insert the mounting bolt, screw on a new self-locking nut and tighten it to a torque of 80 Nm.

Connect to the swivel support tie rod end.

Screw on the ABS pulse sensor.

Install the brake disc.
