Table of contents: Removal ↓ Installation ↓
Note: After installation, it is necessary to measure the parameters of the front axle.

Removal

Hang the engine and unscrew the fastenings of its supports.

Mark the position of the front wheels relative to the hubs with paint. This will allow the balanced wheel to be installed in its original position. When unscrewing the wheel bolts, the car must stand on its wheels. Raise the car from the front and remove the front wheels.

Remove the protective caps and unscrew the tie rod fastenings at the front axle beam.

Loosen the fastening of the transverse levers to the front axle beam.

Remove the heat shield and lower engine compartment cover.

Support the shock absorber strut from the outside.

Support the shock absorber strut from the outside.

Measure and mark the screw-in depth "A" of both steering rods or, when unscrewing them, count and record the number of turns.

Loosen the locknuts "arrow" and unscrew the steering rods.

Loosen the locknuts «arrow» and unscrew the steering rods.

Loosen the steering gear mount to the front axle beam.

Loosen the stabilizer mount to the front axle beam.

Support the front axle beam with a garage jack.

On the left and right, unscrew 3 bolts and lower the beam. To do this, partially release the trim in the area of the rear bolts.

Note: The mounting bolts are of different lengths, so their mounting position should be marked.

Installation

Attach the front axle beam and tighten the fastening to the engine support brackets to a torque of 75 Nm. Insert both shortest bolts from the rear.

Tighten the stabilizer mount to the front axle beam to a torque of 20 Nm.

Screw the steering gear to the axle beam with new self-locking nuts and tighten them to a torque of 40 Nm.

Screw in the tie rod ends according to the recorded screw-in depth "A", see figure W-3653. Tighten the lock nuts to a torque of 45 Nm.

Install the heat shield and lower engine compartment cover retainers.

Screw the transverse levers and rods to the front axle beam with new self-locking nuts; do not tighten the nuts.

Remove the engine support device.

Tighten the front wheels. Do not lubricate the wheel bolts. Position the wheels so that the marks made before removal match. Lower the car and tighten the wheel bolts crosswise to 100 Nm.

Align the engine with gentle shaking movements. Then tighten the engine mounts to 45 Nm. Screw the ground wire to the right engine mount bracket.

Note: The following tightening torques are set for all engine supports and their holders: fastening with M8 thread - torque 25 Nm, fastening with M10 thread - torque 45 Nm.

Place the vehicle in its normal position. To do this, the following prerequisites must be met:
  • the car is on wheels;
  • the front seat is in the middle position;
  • each front seat has a load capacity of 68 kg;
  • in the center of the luggage compartment there is a load weighing 21 kg;
  • the fuel tank is filled to capacity with fuel.

Attach the rods to the front axle beam with new self-locking nuts and tighten them to a torque of 110 Nm. Install the protective caps.

Tighten the transverse levers to the front axle beam to the following torques: for a 6-cylinder engine - 81 Nm; for an 8-cylinder engine - 77.5 Nm.
