Attention: After installation it is necessary to measure the parameters of the front axle.
Withdrawal
Hang up the engine and unscrew the fasteners of its supports.
Mark the position of the front wheels in relation to the hubs with paint. This will allow the balanced wheel to return to its original position. When loosening the wheel bolts, the vehicle must be on its wheels. Raise the car from the front and remove the front wheels.
Remove the protective caps and unscrew the fastening of the rods at the front axle beam.
Unfasten transverse link to front axle beam.
Remove the heat shield and lower engine cover.
Support the suspension strut from the outside.
Measure and mark the screw-in depth -A- of both tie rods or, when turning them out, count and record the number of turns.
Loosen lock nuts -arrow- and unscrew tie rods.
Unbolt the steering gear to the front axle beam.
Unbolt the stabilizer bar to the front axle beam.
Support the front axle beam with a garage jack.
Unscrew 3 bolts on the left and right and lower the beam. To do this, partially loosen the lining in the area of the rear bolts.
Attention: The fastening bolts have different lengths, so their mounting position should be marked.
Installation
Attach the front axle beam and tighten the fastening to the brackets of the engine supports to a torque of 75 Nm. Insert both shortest bolts from behind.
Tighten stabilizer bar attachment to front axle carrier to 20 Nm.
Screw the steering gear to the axle beam with new self-locking nuts and tighten them to a torque of 40 Nm.
Screw in the tie rod ends according to the recorded screwing depth -A-, see figure W-3653. Tighten locknuts to 45 Nm.
Install the heat shield and lower engine compartment shroud retainers.
Screw transverse arms and rods to the front axle beam with new self-locking nuts, do not tighten the nuts.
Remove the engine jack.
Screw on the front wheels. Do not grease wheel bolts. Attach the wheels so that the marks applied before removal coincide. Lower vehicle and tighten wheel bolts crosswise to 100 Nm.
Align the engine with shaking movements without tension. Then tighten the engine mounts to 45 Nm. Screw the ground wire to the right engine support bracket.
Note: The following tightening torques are set for all motor supports and its holders: fastening with M8 thread - torque 25 Nm, fastening with M10 thread - torque 45 Nm.
Set the car to its normal position. For this, the following prerequisites must be met:
- the car is on wheels;
- the front seat is in the middle position;
- each front seat carries a load of 68 kg;
- in the center of the luggage compartment is a load of 21 kg;
- the fuel tank is full of fuel.
Screw the links to the front axle carrier with new self-locking nuts and tighten them to 110 Nm. Install protective caps.
Tighten the fastening of the transverse arms to the front axle beam with the following torques: for 6-cylinder engines - 81 Nm; for 8-cylinder engines - 77.5 Nm.
