Elements of the valve assembly of the M70 series engine
Remove the cylinder head.
Remove the distributor.
Remove the rear cylinder head cover.
Remove the mounting brackets from each of the rocker arms.
Note: There are several types of staples. Wire staples are installed on each side of the rocker, spring clips run along the rocker.
Before removing the rocker axles, measure the radial clearance of each rocker and compare the result with the required values (0.015-0.051mm).
Without shifting the rocker along the axis, try to turn the rocker on it first in one direction and then in the other direction. Radial clearance - the total displacement of the end of the rocker arm facing the camshaft. If the clearance is greater than required, the rocker arm bushing, axle, or both need to be replaced.
Disassembly of the cylinder head includes the removal of intake and exhaust valves and related parts.
Before removing the valves, be prepared to tag them and store them separately with their associated parts so that they can be reassembled in their original locations, in the same guides, when reassembled.
Compress the first valve springs with a compressor and remove the valve cotters.
Carefully release the compressor and remove the springs and spring seat.
Pull the valve out of the cylinder head, then remove the seal. If the valve is stuck in the guide (and it can't be pulled out), push it back into the cylinder head and file the area around the holder groove with a fine file.
Repeat this operation for the rest of the valves. Remember to fold and store the parts of each valve separately.
To quickly disassemble the valve assembly, you can use the following method:
Place the old piston pin on the upper valve disc and hit it with a hammer.
Attention: Be careful. In this case, crackers pop out, and the springs can «jump up».
Remove the valve elements as described above.
Attention: A tool is required to install the valves.
After the valves are removed, the cylinder head must be thoroughly cleaned and inspected. If the engine is being overhauled, first finish disassembling the engine, and then start cleaning and checking the cylinder head.
