Removal and installation the air cleaner housing (BMW 7 Series E38)

1. Read the fault codes and turn off the ignition.

Engine M52

1. Loosen the clamp (1) and press the brackets (2). Disconnect the connector (3).



2. Unscrew the bolts (1) and detach the resonator chamber (2) from the corrugated casing.



3. Unscrew the bolt (1) and remove the air cleaner housing together with the corrugated casing.





4. If necessary, press the clamps (3 and 4) and disconnect the air filter housing from the air flow meter.



5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Insert the rubber-metal hinges into the supports. Read the fault codes and eliminate them if necessary.

M60 and M62 engines

1. Disconnect the MAF sensor connector (1). Loosen the clamp (2) and disconnect the hose. On models with an engine M62 disconnect the IAT sensor connector.





2. Press the clamps (1) and remove the air flow meter.

When installing, replace the gasket between the air flow meter and the top of the air filter.

3. On models with an engine M60 B30 loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose.



4. Remove the screw and remove the air cleaner housing assembly.

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Engine M73

1. Press the lock (2) and disconnect the connector (1).



2. Press the clamps (1) and loosen the clamp (2). Disconnect the connector (3), loosen the clamp (4) and disconnect the hose. Remove the upper section of the air cleaner housing.



3. Remove the screw and remove the lower section of the air cleaner.



4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
