Removal and installation the IAC valve (BMW 7 Series E38)

Models with M52 engine

1. Turn off the ignition. Remove the air cleaner housing (see section Removal and installation the air cleaner housing).

2. Remove the throttle bodies (see section Removal and installation the throttle body, replacing its gasket).

Do not disconnect the throttle body heater cables or hoses.

3. Remove the engine oil dipstick guide tube (1). Press the lock, disconnect the connector, unscrew the two bolts (2) and disconnect the IAC valve.



4. Remove the gasket (1) and rubber clamp (2). Loosen the clamp (3) and disconnect the hose.

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Replace the gasket. Finally, check the idle speed.

Models with M52TU engine

1. Follow the steps described in paragraphs 1 through 6 of Section Removal and installation the throttle body, replacing its gasket.

Do not disconnect the engine oil pressure and temperature D/V connectors.

2. Remove the bolt (1) securing the electrical box, the bolts (2) of the IAC valve holder (3) and remove the IAC valve from the intake manifold together with the bracket.



3. Remove the IAC valve (2) from the retaining rubber element (4). The gasket (1) between the IAC valve and the intake manifold must be replaced. However, when reinstalling, the seal should not be installed on the IAC valve, but first in the intake manifold.

4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Models with M60 and M62 engines

1. Follow the steps described in paragraphs 1 through 3 of SectionRemoval and installation the throttle body, replacing its gasket.





2. Hang up the bracket (1) and remove the IAC valve.



3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. To ensure tightness, the sealing rings on the throttle body and on the IAC valve must be clean and undamaged. If the sealing rings are damaged, they must be replaced. When installing, first install the sealing ring on the throttle flange.
