Replacing the steering column switch bracket (BMW X5 E53)

The replacement of the switch bracket on the steering column must be carried out in the following order: Remove the steering wheel, the upper and lower trim covers from the steering column. Disconnect the SS (1, Fig. 16.12) from the turn signal/low beam switch and windshield wiper. Disconnect the wiring harness from the mount on the steering column. Disconnect the SS from the steering column adjustment switch.
