Replacing the steering column adjustment switch (BMW X5 E53)

The steering column adjustment switch must be replaced in the following order.

Remove the lower steering column trim cover and disconnect the steering column from the switch. Lift the retainer (1, Fig. 16.18) in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove the steering column position adjustment switch (2) in the direction indicated by the arrow.



The steering column adjustment switch should be installed in the reverse order, making sure that the lock is engaged.
